Empire State Building
Standing at 1050 feet, the Empire State Building is one of New York City's most famous landmarks. It was completed in 1931 and since then has had well over 100 million tourists. Although its towering height made it well known at the time it was built, what most likely put it on the map was the 1933 Hollywood film, King Kong, starring Fay Wray, which had the ape of the same name battling fighter planes while hanging off its spire.
