Leyte, Philippines

Rafael Farm, Babatngon, Leyte, Philippines.

Rafael Farm is a beautiful landscaped garden just outside Tacloban City, the capital of the province Leyte. It is frequented by city dwellers who want to spend a few hours away from the crowded city. Small parking and entrance fees (that are waived if you order drinks or a meal from the restaurant) ensure that the gardens remain quiet.

Rafael Farm is a perfect (and popular) location for wedding photo shoots.

Yoho National Park, British Columbia

In the Yoho National Park in British Columbia, the Kicking Horse River rushes so quickly that it cuts a natural bridge through the rocks.

I did not plan on taking this photo. On our vacation to Alberta, we decided to drive into British Columbia from Banff, "just to say we've been there", and quickly turn back. But I missed my turnoff, so we just decided to forge ahead. Then we saw the sign for the Natural Bridge and followed it.

After taking the shot- it started to rain.

Philadelphia , Pennsylvania

This is the Philadelphia skyline, as seen from across the Delaware River. At the lower right is Penn's Landing. This is located where William Penn supposedly landed in 1682. There are a number of restored ships (one of them is a tugboat, shown in the photo), and many events take place there.

Some of the buildings in the photo are Liberty Place (the two beautiful glass towers towards the left), the Pyramid Club (at right of the antenna), City Hall (in front of the Pyramid Club), and the tallest building in Philly, the Comcast Tower. This area is known as Center City.

This picture is one of my personal favorites, and one of three showing this skyline. Come and visit my Philadelphia category to see them!

Winter morning in the Pusteria Valley in South Tyrol, Italy. South Tyrol is an autonomous region in Northern Italy that belonged to Austria, so is it also bilingual (Italian and German). I travel very often in that region, especially in summer. I took this picture one freezing morning (-9°C) the last day of my winter vacation.

Chicago , Illinois USA

This is a photograph I took of a building in Chicago near the river. The factory looked pretty eery near the river because it was night and it was still blowing out steam. I liked the combination of the beautiful, reflective river and the dramatic clouds this night, so I decided to take a picture!

Auvergne , France

Chateau d'Anjony is a 15th century castle in the Cantal department of the Auvergne, France. The castle was built by Louis d'Anjony who was a friend of Joan of Arc, and was the scene of a family feud for three centuries. The Tournemire family's castle, part-owned by the Anjony family, being easily seen from it. With four 130 feet high (40m) towers built of a red basalt stone, it overlooks the green Doire valley, with the local breed of chocolate brown Salers cattle grazing in the foreground.

Sol Duc Falls

Postcards: Sol Duc Falls from Zazzle.com

Sol Duc Hot Springs features this beautiful waterfall; a favorite of photographers. It is located in the Olympic National Park, at the northwest corner of Washington State (and also, of course, in the extreme northwest corner of the continental USA). Down the road from the falls is the resort with hot springs, pools and lodge. You can hike to the falls, play in the pools, and have lunch all in one day. The Hot Springs are part of the Quinault Rainforest, which is one of three temperate rain forests in the Western hemisphere. You don't find jungle plants and monkeys here. What you find are gigantic, ancient cedar trees, as well as hemlock, Douglas fir and the largest Sitka spruce tree in the world, and a great variety of ground cover and shrubs. And lots of moss--hanging from tree branches and covering roots and rocks. Take your tripod if you are photographing, because the light is dim in many places, even if it's a sunny day. And that's not everyday; after all, it's the rainforest!

American Niagara Falls

This stunning aerial shot of the American Niagara Falls was taken from the top of the Sklon Towers in Niagara Falls Canada. You can see the Niagara River rapids as they scurry towards the falls. Also, in the lower right hand corner, the tourist boat "The Maid of The Mist", is dwarfed by the mighty Niagara cataracts. I took this shot a few Summers ago on a "Catholic Match" singles get-together that I hosted. A wonderful time was had by all, and the views of one of the "Natural Wonders of The World" were sure hard to beat!

Vantaa, Finland

Taken on a very foggy Sunday morning (out of my window) in the Vantaa suburbs. I think it was late Summer. Everything is always very very quiet and kinda of post-apocalyptic that early in the morning. The fog helped the mood.

Chicago , Illinois USA

This is a photo I took of the Chicago skyline at night. I thought it would be interesting to show more than just the buildings, so I included the trees in the frame as well. The dark trees and glowing orange streetlights give kind of an eery feel to this photograph.

Place du Tertre , Paris

Place du Tertre, Paris, France.
The Place du Tertre on the Montmartre hill was once a meeting place for artists, including household names like Van Gogh, Picasso, Matisse, Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec. Now it is a tourist spot where street artists make portraits of visiting tourists and painters that will never be famous sell paintings of the major Paris attractions.

Beaver Island State Park , NY

On a trip to Niagara Falls a couple of years ago, my husband Paul and I actually accidentally "stumbled" upon BEAVER ISLAND STATE PARK. We took a wrong turn, went over the Grand Island Bridge, and 'viola' we came across this lovely park. It has many wonderful amenities such as a beach, golf course, nature trails, boat launch, picnic tables, pavilions and so much more and is open year round! I hope that you have the chance, one day, to "stumble" upon this beautiful State Park yourself.

Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, California is one of the popular places to visit for good food and fun shopping. The small fishing boats docked there always make me want to go out on an adventure on one of them but, I usually settle for a plate of crab cakes or clam chowder in a bread bowl when I go there. Fisherman’s Wharf is located on the North end of the city and is hard to miss.

Chicago , Illinois USA

This is a long-exposure photograph I took of State Street in Chicago. This night I was walking downtown, and decided to take a picture while on the median. All the lights look neat at night in Chicago, and here I wanted to capture the trailing headlights of cars by using a longer exposure. It was also kind of interesting how the streetlights turned into stars!

Taken on a stormy day on the Caribbean island of Antigua at this rock formation known as Devil's Bridge. It's a hollow, a natural arch in the rocks through which the water comes in and sometimes shoots up into the sky. The weather was threatening, but the water was still a perfect aquamarine.
