Park County, Wyoming, USA

This photograph was taken at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. It is a great spot to catch your breath from all the sulfur. There are views from all points. You can even find elk resting in the grass nearby. Spring and Autumn is the best time of the year to visit the park, but any day they are open will be a great day to visit. The views are wonderful and the wildlife are fun to watch.

Canadian Rockies, Canada

Mt. Norquay, near Banff, Alberta, is a famous ski resort. Last summer, we drove to the top and saw the obviously empty lodge with the lifts and chalet. On the way down, I stopped and took the photo seen here.

The mountains are part of the Sundance Range, and in the foreground is Lake Vermillion. For the curious, the location is 51.19283°N, 115.58426°W, 4902 ft./1495m above mean sea level.

And if you are there, say hello to the coyote we saw!

Acadia , Maine, USA

It was a peaceful summer morning when I stepped out of our hotel room, grabbed my camera, and fired away at this magnificent site. This scene was taken at Southwest Harbor, on Mount Desert Island in Maine. The Acadia National Park is nearby.

While enjoying the brilliant reds and yellows of the sky, you can hear the wildlife stirring. What a great way to start the day!

A Japanese stone lantern in Lili'uokalani Park in Hilo, Hawaii. It's a large park that covers 30 acres, and features a beautiful Japanese garden that was built in the early 1900's and is said to be the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan. The park's namesake, Queen Lili'uokalani, gave the land to be made into the park.

Blakeney Point, Norfolk, England

This photograph is of seals at Blakeney Point in Norfolk, England. There are two ways to see the seals, one is to pay for a charter, the other is to walk out to them along the shore. We walked, we prefer to go the route less traveled, it's more fun that way. The beach starts off rocky then goes to a soft fine sand. The seals are wonderful to watch. They will even spy on you to. Please keep your distance and respect wildlife.

Teton County, Wyoming, USA

This photograph was taken in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The mountain view is at Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. You will see a mountain range come to and end at this lake. It is great for panoramic photographs, if you have the availability of stitching program in your camera or a panoramic camera. Parking is just off the road along most of the lake in front of the mountains. It's a grand site to see just before leaving the park and entering into Yellowstone National Park.

Washington DC, USA

One of the most famous statues in the US, besides the Statue of Liberty.
Sculpted by Daniel Chester French, this magnificent work is in the Lincoln Memorial at Washington, DC.

A word of advice- do not take a tripod into the Memorial, as they are forbidden. It is very crowded, at all hours.

Bermuda

At the northern end of Bermuda is the Royal Naval Shipyard. Once an outpost of the Royal Navy, it is now a quaint collection of shops and museums. Large cruise ships dock nearby, so it gets awfully crowded during the tourist season.

This photo was taken along Puako / Malama Petroglyph Trail in Kohala, Hawaii. You can see hundreds of petroglyphs carved into the rocks here. The trail to the petroglyphs was covered with rough lava rocks and it was hot, so wear good shoes and a hat!

Tuolumne, Mariposa, & Madera counties, California, USA

This photograph was taken in Yosemite National Park in California. The view is taken from the Tunnel View Road that goes from the meadow you may have entered the park by, and up to Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. It is an excellent look out point to see Half Dome and El Capitan all at once. I hope you get their first, as there is only a few parking spots at the look-out. The road is a one way, so you will not be able to drive back down to see the view again. Please be smart and adhere to regulations, and watch your step.

Arkadi Monastery, Crete, Greece

This is the church at the Monastery of Arkadi on the Greek island of Crete. A working Greek Orthodox monastery with a historic background, Arkadi is a popular site for tourists who visit Rethymnon and the surrounding area.

This shot is one of my earlier photos taken from my time spent living in Crete but it is still a favorite. I love how the pink geranium flowers frame the church... helping to give it a traditional rustic mediterranean feel.

La Mina Falls , Puerto Rico

Deep in El Yunque rain forest in Puerto Rico is La Mina Falls. This is a very popular stop there. Many people like to bathe underneath. There were no people under the falls when this picture because it was raining.
Well, it is a rain forest!

To get there, follow the Twin Trees trail for about 45 minutes to an hour. Wear comfortable shoes, prepare for hilly terrain.

And it will rain.

Big Island of Hawaii

This photo was taken at South Point (Ka Lae), the southernmost point of the Big Island of Hawaii and the 50 United States. This is believed to be the location of where the first Polynesians in Hawaii landed their boats. The road leading to it goes through wide open ranch land and an old wind farm.

Gettysburg PA, USA

At the very center of the Gettysburg battle is the monument for the 72nd Pennsylvania Zouaves Brigade. As the statue implies, it was the scene of bitter fighting when the Rebel army made the Pickett's Charge of July 3, 1863.
Shot at sunset, you can see the golden light reflected off the bronze statue.

By the way, if this looks familiar, this is the statue on the obverse side of the new quarter for Pennsylvania.

Ground Zero

Today in memory of those lost 10 years ago at approximately this time, I am posting this image taken near ground zero in NYC, NY. The world will never forget the tragic events of that day, lives lost in NYC, DC and PA. Today's post will not be about travel, but will be a reminder to enjoy the places you are and the people you are with, every minute of every day is precious. Cherish it.

This post is dedicated to those who lost their lives, those who survived the events, those who put their lives on the line to helps others that day, those who lost family members that day, those who worked tirelessly in the coming days weeks and months to search and recover as well as clean the site, those who have lost their lives due to the toxic exposure they received that day and the days after, as well as those still suffering with the effects of those toxins.

I also will ask you to help those who are still needing help due to the effects of this day by supporting the Feal Good Foundation. They support those who 10 years ago supported us.

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

This photograph was taken from Kangaroo Point, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The colorful lights of Brisbane's central business district are reflected in the Brisbane River. There are cliffs near here where locals and tourists rock climb. It's also a popular picnic destination, which was lucky for me... I used a picnic table as a tripod to steady my camera for this shot!

Egyptian beach

Sometimes that's all you want to do, just sit on a beach and do nothing! This picture was taken on an Egyptian beach (the name escapes me right now) in 2008 just before the holiday season before parents and kids take over the place. Very peaceful.

Coney Island, NYC NY USA

One of the most famous of all Brooklyn landmarks is the Parachute Jump in Coney Island. Originally built for the World's Fair in 1939, it was then moved to its present location. People would pay to be hoisted to the top, then gently ride down by parachute.

If you visit that site, you may be able to smell the hot dogs sold by Nathan's another Brooklyn fixture. I'm getting hungry just writing about it!

Washington Monument, DC USA

The Washington monument is currently closed indefinitely and unfortunately due to damage sustained in the August 22nd earthquake that shook the area. Large cracks were found in the monument after the quake which will need to be stabilized and repaired before it may be opened again. You can still view it as i did from the ground however where i stood taking this magnificent photograph.
