After driving through Yosemite National Park, you reach the Tioga Pass of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This pass is the highest highway pass in the state of California. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are cold and snowy nearly all year long, and this pass can be closed during the winter due to heavy snow. When it is open, there are several cafes and diners to duck into for a cup of coffee and slice of homemade pie.
