Red Beach, Palo, Philippines.

During the second world war, the Japanese army ousted the US army from the Philippines. In 1944, the American forces under Gen. Douglas McArthur returned. He landed near Palo, in the province Leyte, and, after fierce fighting, expelled the Japanese army. The monument depicted on the postcard stands at the exact spot of the landing. It consists of a group of life-size statues of Gen. McArthur and his staff, landing on the beach.
