Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, Germany

It had been raining all day, so the sun was a bit weak and watery, but gave a lovely light to the pastel coloured buildings with the brooding mountains behind.
Many people know the name from televised winter sports, but the old town is worth a visit at any time of the year. Many houses are decorated with extravagant murals and window boxes full of flowers. A very pretty town.
