Jewish Sites, Washington DC
This stunning and creative fence is actually shaped like a Menorah - it surrounds the oldest & first Jewish Synagogue in Washington DC. The Synagogue is open for tours upon request, and is being renovated to historically preserve it. It can even be rented/booked for small weddings with all benefits going into the restoration funds.

Hawaii USA
This photo was taken at South Point (Ka Lae), the southernmost point of the Big Island of Hawaii and the 50 United States. This is believed to be the location of where the first Polynesians in Hawaii landed their boats. The road leading to it goes through wide open ranch land and an old wind farm.

Heidelberg Germany
Three times a year Heidelberg Germany sets their castle ablaze to commemorate the fires that have destroyed it throughout history. The fire is actually a wonderful light display and started off with fireworks. It is really worth the trip - the best vantage point is from across the rive on or below the Philosophenweg - or Philosophers way...where you can travel in the footsteps of some of the greatest philosophers to ever live!!

Fort in Rethymnon, Crete, Greece
This historic Venetian fort sits high above the old town of Rethymnon on the Greek island of Crete.
This photo postcard shows the exterior curtain wall of the fortezza. Inside, you can explore the grounds, walk the perimeter of the wall, peek through the turrets, and take in the panoramic views over this mediterranean seaside town.

Banff Springs, Canada
On top of Sulphur Mountain, where the famous Banff Springs are located, is the equally popular observation post. From here, you can see the entire town and its surroundings- Cascade Mountain, the Bow River, Tunnel Mountain, Lake Minnewanka and more. View is to the N-NW.
This was taken last summer, and I was careful to take the photo late in the afternoon, so the lighting would be best.
Highly recommended!

Bass Harbor Marsh, Maine
In Mount Desert Island, Maine, lies Acadia National Park. We were driving on the western side, trying to find a picturesque shore view. We didn't see much, but on the way on Rt. 102, we saw this instead.
This is the Bass Harbor Marsh, where a creek empties into Bass Harbor. In the background are Bernard and Mansell mountains.

Gambia
This is a digital water painting of the view from our room in an exclusive boutique hotel called Ngala Lodge (pronounced en-gala) in The Gambia we visited in 2010. It happens to be voted 'the best hotel in The Gambia' by the Gambian tourism board and all staff members at the hotel are very happy to display why they are voted the best too!

Alberta, Canada
In Jasper National Park in Alberta lies the Columbia Icefield. This is the only spot on earth where three rivers empty into three oceans: the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic. One of the glaciers is the Athabasca Glacier, which is a popular tourist attraction.
There are specially made tour buses that drive right on the ice. The view is amazing, and winter gear is necessary even in the middle of summer!
The glacier itself has been retreating since 1855. In a way that is good, since otherwise it would extend over the adjacent highway 93 (appropriately named the Icefield Parkway).

Sandy Hook, New Jersey, USA
This is America's oldest lighthouse, in Sandy Hook, NJ. This lighthouse was first lit in 1764. It stands in the entrance to New York Harbor and is part of the Gateway National Park (NY and NJ).
Also nearby is Fort Hancock, built in the 1890's to protect the harbor. Artillery was placed and was active during WWII. Later, anti-aircraft missiles were installed nearby. Visitors to Sandy Hook can see old cannons, gun placements, and missiles as well as the lighthouse.

Humpback Whale and Tall Ship 2 Postcard by DevelopingNature
Learn ways to make money as an artist on Zazzle.
A photograph of a Humpback whale in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Massachusetts. This photograph was taken during a whale watch cruise. A sunny day that turned into a rainy day. Lucky for me, it just happened to be during the same weekend as the Tall Ships event in Massachusetts. A few photographs like this one made it ok that the sun went away. There is nothing you can do for New England weather, be prepared for all weather changes.

Coney Island , New York
One of the most famous of all Brooklyn landmarks is the Parachute Jump in Coney Island. Originally built for the World's Fair in 1939, it was then moved to its present location. People would pay to be hoisted to the top, then gently ride down by parachute.
If you visit that site, you may be able to smell the hot dogs sold by Nathan's another Brooklyn fixture. I'm getting hungry just writing about it!

Bali , Indonesia
I came across this stone figure as I was exploring the Peace Garden of the Bali Botanical Gardens. It's located in Ubud, one of the prettiest towns in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia. Its meditative example gives the visitor an incentive to slow down and gaze at it without hurry. Bali is a Hindu island, a relic of the time when India had control of parts of Indonesia. I enjoyed visiting the temples with their multitude of statues (most dressed in black and white checked sarongs) and accompanying flower offerings.

British Columbia, Canada
Beautiful hanging baskets of flowers were everywhere in this charming port in British Columbia. The bright red flowers were the jewels on a background of the deep blue of the sound and the boat-filled harbor on a tranquil summer day. A summer on the inland passage of British Columbia is the next best thing to heaven.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts USA
This is one of many lighthouses in Cape Cod, the Highlands Lighthouse in N. Truro, Massachusetts (42° 02' 21" N, 70° 03' 44" W), at the National Seashore. The current lighthouse was built in 1857, at a height of 66 feet and made of brick and cast iron.
The Cape is a beautiful seashore area, with lots to see and do. If you really want to enjoy your trip there, I strongly recommend visiting in May, June, or September, as it is quite crowded over the summer. I'm sure you'll fall in love with old Cape Cod!

The iconic image of Maine's rocky coast- the Portland Head Light. Actually located in Cape Elizabeth, it sits in Fort Williams Park. It is a popular tourist attraction, and in the summertime, it is a pleasant place to be.
But wait- there's another lighthouse in this picture. If you look close enough, you can see the Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse just right of center at the horizon.

Grand Teton Park, Wyoming, USA
The Grand Teton National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming, U.S., only 10 miles (16 km) south of Yellowstone National Park. This Mormon row barn is framed by a babbling stream, a windbreak of trees, and the famous Grand Teton which is the tallest mountain in the Teton Range. Spectacular!
