Quincy Bay, Massachusetts
Quincy Bay Hikers
Quincy Bay, just south of Boston, Massachusetts, has lovely beaches and wildlife preserves. Seafood restaurants offer interesting, delicious meals. I took this photo on a cold, bright day in November. The water was a lovely shade of blue. The sky was tinted with pastel colors. Three figures walked along the shore of Quincy Bay south of Boston, MA. just contemplating the beauty.

Huntington Beach California
The sun is setting on the pier at Huntington Beach California. Even on an overcast evening, the pink and purple hues of the sky are reflected beautifully in the gently lapping waves and the sandy shoreline. Twinkling lights line the boardwalk where the last few tourists linger long after the surfers have gone in.

Cayuga Lake - Ithaca, NY
One evening, after a great meal at one of the gourmet restaurants in Ithaca, NY, we took a 5 minute ride to Cayuga Lake to watch the sunset and I took this photo.
Cayuga Lake is the longest of central New York's glacial Finger Lakes. The city of Ithaca is located at the southern end. It is the perfect place to view this breathtaking sunset. The sky glows with brilliant colors of orange, pink, yellow, cream, blue and violet. Silhouetted hills line the western shore.

Driftwood
This little piece of driftwood floated up on the beach as I was walking one day. Made me think of a poem i had written years earlier
Driftwood
as I walk along the beach I smell the sweet salt air, I see
the scattered pieces of wood,
washed ashore after floating for years and years, as I
wander along I imagine that this
drift wood has floated for years upon years, maybe it
was a part of an old viking war
ship. Maybe this ship traveled here to America years
before Columbus. Maybe this ship
carried pirates, who attacked at sea. Robbing the rich
and condemning the poor. Maybe
this driftwood has floated from Africa, on an old ship
carrying slaves. Maybe this wood
was used as a weapon in a revolt, causing the ship to
sink. Maybe this wood is a piece
of a ship docked at Boston harbor during the tea party. A
piece of a crate broken open
by our people. Or maybe this wood simply fell off of a
barge, strolling to sea to dump it's
unwanted cargo. I like to think the last one is not true, I
want to think this wood led a
noble life. I like to think one day it was special. Now it is
just another piece of driftwood,
strewn along the beach for some tourist to take home. Or
some lifeguard to throw out.
No, Not this drift wood. This wood is returning to the
sea, to finish it's journey. Maybe
one day this wood will return to the beach again, with
more stories to tell. Or maybe it
will sink like the majestic ship I imagine it has come
from. So I bid it farewell and toss it
back out, to a sea full of wonders. And I wander on
down the beach, smelling the salt air,
feeling the water and sand slip thru my toes. I think once
again of my driftwood and
where it might go, I smile, and continue on my journey.

crooked path South Africa
\
This crooked path leads down to the beach in Pennington, South Africa. I was walking home from breakfast and decided to go walk with my toes in the water because it was hotter then hot walking in the sun on the road, and i figured if i have to walk in the sun lets cool off a bit!
This shot just looked so stark with the bright blue sky and dark crooked trees. Perfect for anyone looking to make a new start in life.

Door County, WI
These beautiful birch trees are in Door County, WI located in the northeastern edge the state. Door County is a peninsular with Lake Michigan on one side and Green Bay on the other.
One morning upon arising I saw this sight out of the bedroom window and rushed to get my camera to capture the early morning sun. Even though this photo is looking through a window, it's a pretty clear shot.

Close up of a bison face in Yellowstone National Park. Courtesy of a long zoom lens, I know better than to approach them. These beasts are awesome to watch and totally majestic. It's my favorite place in the world. Circumstances have kept me from visiting since 2004 but I still have hopes.

Autumn at Buttermilk Falls - Ithaca, New York
Autumn at Buttermilk Falls
Buttermilk Falls is a 165 foot foaming cascade in Ithaca, New York. The water twists and turns over the rock, looking like creamy buttermilk as it reaches the bottom. Buttermilk Creek drops over 650 feet through the gorge toward Cayuga Lake over ten distinct waterfalls along the way. I took this photo one gorgeous autumn day when the fall foliage was just glowing with color.

Merimbula, Australia
Memories of carefree childhood days flood back when I look at this image of the old pier at Merimbula, Australia. Merimbula is on the coast in New South Wales, Australia, and was a favorite holiday spot for my family. When I had children of my own, we also took them to the pier to fish when on holidays. The pier has stood the test of time, and on a recent visit there, I took this photo. The years rolled back, as I recalled the thrill of fishing with my Dad, high above the water, the feeling of being half scared and half excited looking over the edge to the water way below, and hoping to feel that bite on my line.

Melun, France
This comes from a cathedral in Melun, France that proudly proclaims itself to be the "flamboyant church". It is a must see if you find yourself in Ile de France. This church has more gargoyles and small carvings like this than I have ever seen on a church before. It sits in the middle of a cobblestone street with expensive little boutiques all up and down both sides of the street with apartments on top of them. It is impossible to photograph the entire cathedral because of it's location, it is literally crammed in the downtown section. I love how the man shows the fashion of the time.

Hadrian's Arch Athens, Greece
It's hard to get a clean shot of Hadrian's Arch without getting power lines and signs in the way. The best vantage point is getting up close with a wide angle lens.

This is a privately owned resort offering many A-frame stye wood cabins as lodging, located halfway between Merritt and Kamloops, British Columbia.

Bryce Canyon - Utah
This hoodoo silhouette was taken on a cold pre-dawn morning at Bryce Canyon. A short hike down from the viewing area let me get this great view. While waiting for the sun to rise I could hear some hoodoo rock formations settling cracking in the distance.

Sunset - Albuquerque, New Mexico
A sunset photographed in my town that's famous for them - Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was actually supposed to be the subject - I'd hired a professional photographer to shoot photos of me for my website and blog, with the sunset-lit Sandia Mountains behind me as a backdrop. Fortunately I had my camera with me, too. We had to break frequently from the photo-shoot of me, because we all (myself, the photographer, and her assistant) had our cameras trained on this sunset that was changing minute-by-minute.
