Essaouira, Morocco
This photograph was taken on the shore of Essaouira, Morocco. It depicts a fantasia, which is a traditional equestrian performance we can see during Moroccan festivals. Groups of men on horses speed face to face and fire their gunpowder guns in the sky all at once. The tradition is inspired from historical wartime attacks of Berber and desert knights. It is quite a rare and impressive sight. I was lucky enough to witness this real practice as I set foot in Essaouira after a long drive from Marrakesh. As a photographer, I couldn't be happier.
